36 Stone are delighted to welcome Kish Sharma as a new member of chambers.
Kishore is a senior and experienced barrister, his experience enhances the Stone team’s practice across our three core areas of Shipping & Commodities, International Arbitration and Commercial Litigation.
As well as his practice at the self-employed bar, Kishore has worked as an employed barrister in the market leading teams at Clyde & Co and Walton & Morse (now Kennedy’s Marine).
Kishore is ranked as a leading shipping junior by Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners. The directories’ comments include that he is ‘exceptionally bright and has a very wide knowledge of the various aspects of the shipping and trading industry.'
Kishore’s recent work highlights include:
◾ Advising marine cargo insurers on special clauses covering refusal of the master to transit the Red Sea because of Houthi rebel action.
◾ Advising on “holding certificate” documentation under an intended CIF sale of copper electrodes worth approximately US$43 million.
◾ Obtaining an urgent order in the Commercial Court on behalf of vessel owners for sale of a perishable bulk cargo of virally infected wheat under s. 44 Arbitration Act 1996.
◾ Applying for an anti-suit injunction and order preserving assets under s. 44 Arbitration Act 1996 in an unusual and complex multi-partite shipping dispute: (The “ESHIPS PROGRESS”) 1 Lloyd’s Rep. 595 (Jacobs J)
Professor Charles Debattista & Rachel Toney (Heads of Team) comment: “We are absolutely thrilled that Kishore has chosen to join us at 36 Stone. Kishore comes to the Stone team with a wealth of experience and expertise in our key practice areas, further enhancing the depth and breadth of the team’s expanding offering to the market. We are very much looking forward to working with Kishore and to the exciting opportunities ahead.”
Kishore Sharma comment: "36 Stone is one of the great maritime, commodities and commercial teams at the Bar and coming here is the realisation of a long-held ambition. I very much look forward to working with my distinguished, industry-leading, new colleagues as well as Reiss and his brilliant team of clerks."
Reiss Nott (Senior Clerk) comment: "We are delighted to welcome Kishore to chambers, his arrival compliments our leading shipping & commodities team and further strengthens our relationships with the leading firms in this market. 2023 has been a successful year across the team with involvement in several ground-breaking cases, growth in our relationships with clients at home and overseas and improved recognition by the directories. We look forward to continuing in this regard in 2024 with Kishore on board."
When considering a chambers move with my team, I met with all the major players in the industry. Guy and Tony were our clear preferred choice.
They were authentic in their approach, challenged us when they felt it necessary and ultimately delivered a seamless service. Most importantly they showed complete discretion, which was for us the most important criteria.
Their reputation for being leaders in their field is well deserved and I would not hesitate to recommend them to others.
